The second of the seminar series on Psychology in Islamic Thought, organized jointly by Ibn Haldun University and the Association for the Study of Psychology and Psychotherapy, was held. On Thursday, April 4, at Istanbul University Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Congress and Culture Center, Dr. Taha Burak Toprak, Lecturer at the Department of Psychology, gave a seminar titled “Islam and Psychotherapy: An Example of a Model and Practice”. As the seminar coincided with the month of Ramadan, there was an iftar break with a modest menu. In the part that continued after iftar, Dr. Toprak answered the questions of the participants.
Expressing that what exactly is meant by psychology or psychotherapy in the Islamic tradition is directly related to what Muslims who produce knowledge within Islamic thought understand from truth, existence, knowledge and human being and how they define them, Toprak opened the horizons of the participants with his answers.
