Ibn Haldun University, Department of Psychology Lecturer Prof. Dr. Üzeyir Ok's new article was published in the leading academic journal Mental Health, Religion & Culture, which is indexed by the Emerging Sources Citation Index.
prof. Ok's article is titled "The Relationship between Religiosity and Obsessive-Compulsive Symptoms and the Role of Personality Traits in a Non-Clinical Muslim Sample".
prof. Dr. Ok's quantitative study aims to determine the role of personality traits measured according to the Five Factor Personality Scale, while trying to determine the relationship between obsessive-compulsive disorders measured by the Dimensional Obsession Compulsion Scale and religiosity measured by the Religion Attitude Scale and the Religion-Islam Scale.
The study was carried out on a sample of 298 non-clinical Muslims aged 16-66 years. prof. Dr. According to Ok's article, the data obtained as a result of the research conducted confirm that there is a positive correlation between obsessive-compulsive disorder scores and religiosity.
According to the article, although acting with neuroticism and a sense of responsibility is effective in determining the obsessive-compulsive score, the tendency to show self-discipline and acting with a sense of responsibility has little effect on the explanation of the phenomenon of religiosity. prof. Dr. Ok states that the findings presented in the article will contribute to the understanding and treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder, as well as to the development of practices by religious educators and religious authorities.
